The Hunter Coal Festival is an initiative of Singleton Business Chamber in partnership with the region's mining industry and community. Owned by the community and industry, the Festival has been designed as an initiative to bring our region together in celebration of our coexistence and the mining industry’s contribution to the Hunter Valley.

Australia’s largest regional economy, the Hunter’s natural systems support the rural and resource industries that have traditionally underpinned regional growth. From colonial times to current day, the coal-rich Hunter region has led the countries extractive industries capability, creating and underpinning prosperity locally, nationally and internationally. Premium thermal & metallurgical coals, pit to port proximity, a best practice supply chain network and our world class local workforce has and will continue to set the Hunter region mining industry apart from all others.

The Hunter Coal Festival brings recognition to the contribution of the Hunter’s traditional primary industry. The 2016 Festival, April 1st – 10th, will deliver a broad variety of events, with a focus on community, industry, education and health. The Festival is designed to draw attention to both the industry and the Hunter; in the context of from where we have come and where we are going. The Festival schedule transitions between fun-focused community, and industry and regional economy critical events.

The Festival is organised and delivered by a series of committees made up of Chamber representatives, collaborative partners and community members.
